First thing before doing any modifications to your blog is to take back up of
your blog template the process of doing so is explained below
1. Login to your blogger account
2. you will be taken to your Dashboard and menu will be like this
3. click on the Layout menu as shown in circle. you will be taken to layout display of your blog template
4. click on Edit HTML menu then the display change to html code view
5. Click on the Expand Widget Templates
6. Click on the Download Full Templates
7. your blog template is now downloaded in .xml format.
8. As you have chosen your new blog template download it by rightclicking on the downlad link or alternative download link and save target as or save link as this will be in .xml format
9. click on the choose file it will prompt you to give the file location of new blog template in xml .
10. After choosing the file click on upload and you are done changing blog template
if asks for removing any widgets or html code do it. you have now changed to new blog template.
if any mistake happens or you want to revert back to your old template just upload the old template that has been taken as back up.

2. Just choose which ever template you want to have and right click on the download link or alternative download link and click save as or save link as download to your system
